The Snow Peak mission calls us to have a positive impact in all that we do. We're motivated by the belief that restorative experiences in nature have the power to heal the stresses and anxieties of modern life. Last year, we committed to upholding these values by working to create safe outdoor spaces for all. Partnering with an organization working to increase accessibility and access to the outdoors was a natural extension of our commitment and the inclusive focus of the At Home Campout. This year, we've selected the City Kids Wilderness Project as our non-profit partner for the 2021 Snow Peak At Home Campout.
Since 1996, City Kids Wilderness Project has served youth from Washington, DC. Randy Luskey founded City Kids as an experiential program with a mission to prepare children for life beyond a traditional classroom setting and position participants for success in adulthood. City Kids leverages life changing experiences in the outdoors as well as college and career readiness programs to help youth graduate from high school or earn their GED, enroll in a postsecondary education program or obtain a job, and become involved and connected members of their community.
City Kids youth enter the program in sixth grade and begin a seven-year continuum of immersive outdoor experiences through high school, and into postgraduate years. Year-round programming is offered free of charge and takes place in parks and wilderness areas in and around Washington, DC, and Jackson Hole, WY.
The City Kids model is layered with an evaluation-based, long-term youth development strategy that successfully teaches resilience and life skills to youth. Their focus on positive youth development, peer-to-peer mentoring relationships, and equitable access to the outdoors made them a natural partner for the At Home Campout.
All proceeds from the limited-edition Campout Merchandise Collection will be donated to City Kids. By purchasing any of the items in the collection – you're directly supporting City Kids programs.
